Welcome back to school for the Summer Term!

Forest School

At Intack Primary School, Forest School sessions are becoming an important part of our learning. Children explore, learn and develop in the outdoors whatever the season or weather. Research shows, that time spent outdoors has a positive effect on children’s health.

Forest School has been defined as:

“An inspirational process that offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve, and develop confidence and self esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment” Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) and Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOTC), 2002.

In our Forest School sessions children are taught to:

  • be equal, unique and valuable
  • be competent to explore & discover
  • experience appropriate risk and challenge
  • choose, and to initiate and drive their own learning and development
  • experience regular success
  • develop positive relationships with themselves and other people
  • develop a strong, positive relationship with their natural world

Sessions are planned from observations to suit different learners and their needs. Each session has different learning objectives which link in with Forest School principles which enhance learning experiences and outcomes. Sessions are planned with cross curricular links. This web page displays the different sessions which we have completed along with learning objectives and linked images. Enjoy looking through our Forest School fun!

Green Tree Schools Award

As part of the school curriculum, we are all increasing our knowledge on the environment and improving the school grounds around us. We are completing different projects which all have different points linked to them, which children will thereafter gain certificates for in recognition of their achievement, once the project is finalised. As well as this we are aiming to gain enough points to earn a plaque for the school. This is all marked and scored through the Green Tree School Awards from the Woodland Trust.

The projects range from tree planting, reducing CO2 emissions, recycling, visiting a woodland environment, nature projects and lots more. These projects all have individual sessions planned with linked objectives. The activities completed progress through bronze, silver and gold levels aiming to achieve a platinum award!

Take a look through our images at the amazing work we are completing, increasing our knowledge, ensuring we are taking every positive step we can to carry on making the world a special place at the same time as always having fun!

We have currently gained the Bronze and Silver award! We are doing amazing and making our planet happy!
