Back to school Tuesday 23rd April - Have a lovely Easter Holiday

SMSC

The Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural team consists of: Mr Stringfellow, Mrs Burnyeat and Mrs Aliouane

We have worked closely since September to develop an SMSC school statement, policy and action plan to ensure our important area both grows and is monitored closely for it's effectiveness.  SMSC encompasses all areas of the curriculum and is a hugely important area of learning within our school.

One of the first things we have done for each class is promote our Assembly focus on a Monday - Now each classroom has there own SMSC table with a colourful cloth (each class being different), a class bible 'What do we each believe' and a candle that can be used for worship or peaceful thought.

We are continuing to develop this part of the curriculum and some exciting events shall be coming up in the New Year.

Children In Need.

On Friday 13th November we celebrated Children In Need Day. We fundraised in school and raised money for children around the country.

Read the poem written by one of children below......

Today we raise money to help a child

So bring 50 pence or even a pound

Your money helps children all over the UK

So when you think about it, it's not much to pay

So please all join in and dress up to raise money

Put on your Pudsey ears, it's ok to look funny!

We held a minute silence during assembly. In year 6 we have Mr Orr from the library service, who talked to us about the battle of the Somme and some of the brave soldiers from Blackburn who died during this battle. Creative lessons around Remembrance Day took place in classes. LEST WE FORGET.
