Summer 1

ART

This half-term we will be enjoying "Art Week" (W/C 20th April).  Year 5 will be studying the artwork of Ai Weiwei and Jean‑Michel Basquiat.  We are looking forward to creating our masterpieces for parents to come and view in school.  Details will follow.

MUSIC

We will be continuing to learn how to play the violin and follow written music.

PE

Swimming for Toucans will begin on 21st April.  Jays will commence their swimming lessons after half-term.  Details will follow.  Jays will have PE lessons on Tuesday mornings so will need to have their PE kits in school.

SPANISH

Our topic is "Mi familia".  We will be learning how to talk (and write) about our families.

RE

Key question: "How does having faith affect people's lives?"

MATHS

We will be covering shape, position, direction, angles and negative numbers.

ENGLISH

Action/adventure stories, explanation texts.

SCIENCE

Living things and their habitats.  We will also be looking at the life of Sir David Attenborough as he celebrates his 100th Birthday in May!

COMPUTING

Quizzing.  We will be creating our own interactive quizzes that we can play and then evaluate.

HISTORY

The Anglo-Saxons and Scots.
