📚 English

In English, we will be exploring narrative stories and learning all about stories set in familiar places. Our work will be based on Harry the Happy Mouse, where we will develop our storytelling, reading and writing skills. We will also enjoy exploring poems and rhymes and finding out more about animals through information texts.

➗ Maths

In Maths, children will explore numbers to 10, learning to count, recognise, order and compare numbers. They will use practical activities and representations to develop a secure understanding of number and place value. 

🌱 Science

Our topic in Science is Materials. In this topic, children will explore the everyday materials that make up the world around them. They will learn to identify and name common materials such as wood, plastic, glass, metal, water and rock and begin to describe their simple properties. Through practical investigations, children will sort and compare materials, explore what different objects are made from and consider why particular materials are suitable for different purposes. Children will develop their skills by observing closely, asking questions, making comparisons and sharing their findings. 

🎨 Art 

Our Art topic is Drawing. Children will be exploring line and shape. Our focus artist is Bridget Riley. Children will explore lines, shapes and patterns, experimenting with different ways to draw and create. They will develop their creativity, observation and confidence as they make their own artwork.  

 

📖 History 

Our History topic is How am I making History? Children will begin to discover their own history and how they have changed since they were born. They will explore special memories, important events and family history, using photographs, objects and stories to find out about the past. Children will learn to put events into chronological order and begin to understand how the past is different from the present. 

🎵 Music

In our music lessons, children will explore the fun and catchy song "Hey You". They will develop their singing skills, keep a steady beat and begin to explore rhythm, pulse and pitch. Children will have the opportunity to sing, move, play instruments and create their own musical ideas.  

✝️ RE

In RE, the children will be exploring the topic Harvest. Children will explore why Christians give thanks for the food and good things they have. They will learn about the importance of sharing and helping others, and discover how churches and communities celebrate Harvest. Through stories, discussions and creative activities, children will think about being thankful, caring or others and looking after the world. 

💻 Computing

In Computing the topic is an introduction to Purple Mash. Children will begin to explore Purple Mash and develop their confidence when using technology. They will learn to navigate the platform, use simple tools and create their own digital work. 

😊 PSHE

In PSHE the children will be exploring the SCARF unit Me and My Relationships. Children will explore the special people in their lives and what makes relationships positive relationships. They will talk about families, friendships and the importance of being kind, helpful and respectful towards others. They will develop confidence in understanding themselves and building happy and healthy relationships. 

🏃 PE

PE lessons will continue to take place on Wednesdays. Children will develop their fundamental movement skills in the unit named Playing.
