Maths at Intack Primary School - Statement of Intent

The intent of the White Rose Maths curriculum is to develop confident, fluent mathematicians who are able to reason and solve problems effectively. It is designed to ensure that all pupils build a deep and secure understanding of mathematical concepts through a mastery approach, where learning is broken down into small, connected steps. The curriculum emphasises fluency, reasoning and problem-solving, enabling pupils to explain their thinking, make connections and apply their knowledge in a range of contexts. It also promotes the use of mathematical language and representations through the concrete–pictorial–abstract approach, ensuring accessibility for all learners. Ultimately, the aim is for pupils to become independent, resilient learners who can use mathematics confidently in both academic and real-life situations.
