Windrush Day 2026

Here are some activities that we've been doing across school! We have all reminded ourselves about The Windrush and had some in-depth conversations about how these people might have felt and what their experiences could have been like.

    In Nursery, we have been learning about the Windrush Generation. We learnt about a big boat which travelled from Jamaica to England. We learnt about the families who came on the boat to work and start new lives in England. We also learnt that when they arrived, some people were not kind to them. We learnt about Floella Benjamin, who teaches people to be kind and to treat everyone fairly. We made people out of pegs and created a big boat as part of our learning. We explored this topic through imaginative play, music and working hard in the creative area. We have really enjoyed learning about kindness, fairness and treating others with respect.
