This week in Reception we have been celebrating women in science by learning all about Marie Curie and her incredible achievements.
The children have loved discovering facts about her life and learning why she is such an important figure in science and history.
We explored her story through books and class discussions, using our vocabulary mats to help us learn and remember key facts about Marie Curie off by heart. The children worked hard to develop their speaking and reading skills while building their scientific vocabulary.
As part of our creative activities, the children designed and built their own moving skeletons using hammers and nails to carefully join the body parts together. They showed fantastic concentration and perseverance while developing their fine motor skills.
Inspired by our learning, we also painted beautiful daffodils and created our very own x-ray machines through imaginative craft activities. The children thoroughly enjoyed pretending to investigate bones and looking at “x-rays” just like real scientists and doctors.
It has been a wonderful week full of curiosity, creativity and hands-on learning!
