As part of our commitment to continuous professional development, all teachers came together to learn about new skills and to develop our art curriculum. We each created our own sketchbooks, which provided an opportunity to explore fresh, creative ideas that could be implemented within our teaching.
During the session, we discussed a range of new approaches to enhance children's experiences in art. These included introducing each new topic with an artist fact file to deepen children's knowledge and appreciation of artists and their work. We also explored how to make better use of resources that have previously been underutilised, such as ink printing, and shared ideas on how children can gain experience with a wider range of artistic media and techniques.
The session was highly valuable, providing opportunities for collaboration, creativity, and professional discussion. It was a calm and mindful experience, allowing us time to reflect on our practice, develop new skills, and gather inspiration for future teaching and learning in art. We left feeling motivated and equipped with a range of practical ideas to enrich children's artistic experiences and outcomes.
