English, we are learning about narrative stories and information texts. Our work will be based on The Rainbow Fish. We will be finding out all about the characters and then creating our own, writing character descriptions and our own animal stories. We’ll also be learning what information texts are, why they’re useful, and how to write one ourselves.
Maths, we will be learning addition and subtraction and the various ways you can solve calculations when crossing the 10 boundary. We will also be learning about 2D and 3D shapes.
Science, we will be learning about living things and their habitats. We will be learning about biomes, food chains, microhabitats and minibeasts, and things that are alive, dead or never been alive.
PSHE, we will be learning about valuing differences. We will be learning about how to recognise if someone is feeling left out and how we can help them. We will also be learning about good listening skills and how listening skills help us learn to understand a different point of view.
RE, we will be learning about how the birth of baby Jesus was good news. We will also be learning the nativity story and performing it to our parents, friends and teachers.
Geography, we will be learning all about Sensational Safari. We will be learning about where Kenya is, exploring what life is like in Kenya, what national parks are and their big five animals, and all about the Maasai Mara. We will also be comparing life in Kenya to life in the UK.
Art, we will be learning about primary and secondary colours, colour mixing, and creating textures using different tools. We will also learn about collage techniques and experiment with materials and develop our understanding of colour, texture, and composition in art.
Music, we will learn and perform our songs for the nativity play.
Computing, we will be learning the basics of using spreadsheets with 2Calculate, focusing on how to enter, organise, and manage data in rows and columns. We will build confidence in formatting, carrying out simple calculations, using tools and creating block diagrams to present information clearly.
PE, we will be learning about balance and co-ordination.
