We began tidying our sunflower growing area, and what a wonderful discovery we made! 🌻
As we explored the sunflowers, we looked closely at what was inside and discovered lots of seeds. We talked about where the seeds came from and how they can grow into new sunflowers. This hands-on experience helped us develop a deeper understanding of the sunflower life cycle and how new plants begin.
Whilst we were busy exploring, we also discovered a whole family of snails! 🐌 We created a little snail home inside a curiosity cube, which sparked lots of discussion, wonder and excitement. The children shared their ideas, asked questions and carefully observed the snails, helping to develop their communication and thinking skills.
Afterwards, we dried the sunflower seeds for a week before delivering them to classes around school to save and plant in the spring. The children confidently visited different classrooms to share what they had learned about sunflowers and their life cycle, helping to develop their oracy skills, confidence and understanding of how plants grow and reproduce. 🌱🌻
