Year 5 have been focusing on frame structures in DT and decided to make bird boxes. They carried out research into what would make a good bird house. Children have then formulated a clear plan, including a step-by-step list of what needed to be done and made lists of resources needed. Next, they used appropriate tools to accurately measure, mark out, cut, shape and join construction materials to make the frameworks. Finally, they finished and decorated their bird boxes. The children hung their bird boxes in their gardens to evaluate its strength.
