DT at Intack Primary School – Statement of Intent

At Intack Primary School we are committed to providing all children with learning opportunities to engage in design technology. We aim to provide a learning environment where children feel secure and creative risk-taking and problem solving is encouraged and the children's design ideas and suggestions are valued.

We want our children to develop the confidence, creativity and practical skills to design and make purposeful products. Through our Kapow 2026 Design and Technology curriculum, children learn to identify problems, develop ideas, make, test and improve their designs.

Our DT curriculum develops knowledge and skills across six key areas: Structures, Mechanisms and Mechanical Systems, Textiles, Cooking and Nutrition, Electrical Systems and the Digital World. We want children to understand how Design and Technology is used in everyday life and how it can help solve problems and improve the world around us.
