This year, our Year 4 and Year 6 children had the exciting opportunity to become composers by taking part in the English National Opera's Finish This... project.

The children began by listening to the opening of a piece of music composed by Omar Shahryar. Over the half-term, they used their creativity and musical imagination to compose their own ending to the piece. Once completed, each composition was submitted for Omar to listen to and provide personalised feedback.

We were delighted that every piece received thoughtful feedback, and even more thrilled that our Pelican class composition was selected to be transformed into a mini animation as part of the project.

To round off this fantastic experience, we attended a special celebration event where we enjoyed live opera performances and had the opportunity to meet Omar himself. It was a memorable occasion, and one of our children even managed to sneak an autograph!

This project has been an inspiring journey that encouraged creativity, confidence and musical expression, and we are incredibly proud of all of our young composers and their achievements.
