This week, our nursery children enjoyed a very special visit from our year 6 reading buddies, as part of our whole school 'Reading Buddies' programme.

The Year 6 pupils shared a selection of short stories with our youngest learners, reading aloud with confidence, expression and enthusiasm. They carefully thought about their automaticity, intonation, and pace, ensuring their reading was clear, engaging, and easy for the Nursery children to follow and enjoy.

For our Year 6 pupils, this was a wonderful opportunity to develop their fluency and bring stories to life by using expressive voices and appropriate pacing. Meanwhile, the Nursery children loved listening to the stories, joining in with repeated phrases, looking at the illustrations, and sharing their excitement with their older buddies.

It was fantastic to see such positive relationships being built across the school. The session was enjoyed by everyone, and we are incredibly proud of our Year 6 readers for being such kind, patient, and inspiring role models.
