🌟 Welcome to Reception! 🌟
A wonderful world where children learn new routines, make new friendships, explore the world around them, discover new things and, most importantly, learn lots and have lots of fun along the way!
We are delighted to join your children on an exciting learning journey. In Reception, every day is an adventure, filled with curiosity, discovery and fun!
This page will give you a little glimpse into the daily life of our Reception classes. Every day is an opportunity for our children to use their imagination, discover something new and let their curiosity grow. We believe that young children learn best when they are excited, engaged and given the opportunity to explore the world around them.
At our school, we have created a robust, exciting and engaging curriculum that provides our children with a wealth of opportunities to learn, explore and develop and as well as acquire a wealth of new vocabulary.
Throughout their Reception journey, your child will:
- 📚 Listen to wonderful stories and develop a love of reading.
- 🎵 Learn new songs and rhymes
- 🏰 Create their own imaginary small worlds and let their imaginations run wild.
- 🧱 Build, create and problem-solve alongside their peers.
- 🔍 Investigate, explore and find solutions to problems.

- 💡 Make connections between their experiences and everything they are learning.
- 🤝 Develop friendships, confidence and independence.
Our learning doesn’t stay indoors — we also enjoy many opportunities to explore the outdoors, where we play, investigate and develop our understanding of the world around us.

On this page, you will find a breakdown of what your child will learn throughout their exciting journey in Reception. We hope it will give you a better understanding of the experiences, knowledge and skills your child will develop as they grow throughout the year.
Remember to always keep your eyes peeled for new additions to our Class Gallery, which you can find using the red coloured tab on the right-hand side. Your child's class teachers will be adding lots of wonderful WOW moments, exciting experiences, smiley faces and everything in between! 📸✨

📌Important Messages for Grown Ups 📌
Please make sure that your children come to school dressed in the correct uniform and clothing for all weathers. This will include:
- 🧥A waterproof coat with a hood 🌧️
- 🥾A pair of wellies to leave in school for when it is wet outside and also for when we visit Forest School
- 👕 PE kit to hang on their coat peg for when the children do PE on a Tuesday. This should include black trousers / shorts / leggings with a white top and a blue or red jumper 👟. These will then be sent home at the end of every half term for them to be washed.

Home Reading
Books will be sent home with each child in their red book bags. These red book bags will be supplied by school. Please remember to read your home reading book at least three times a week and make sure your reading record is signed by a grown-up each time you have read. It is important that you read at home regularly to practise the skills that you have learnt in school. These home reading books will be changed ONCE a week when your child has practised reading at home.
