Quality teaching of phonics and reading and a rich literacy environment will impact positively on standards through school.
Learners will develop a love of reading widely for their own pleasure and they will use their reading skills as a key tool in helping them to learn across the curriculum and deepen their understanding of the world.
Leaners will make at least good progress in Reading from their last point of statutory assessment or from their starting point in Nursery. All groups of learners will show achievement and progress over time in response to relative target setting feedback and next steps.
Learner’s books, photos, displays and IT sources will provide evidence of the positive impact of our reading curriculum. Feedback from learner’s and the school community through conferencing, questionnaires and reports, will inform our future judgements.
