Impact

By following the agreed Blackburn with Darwen syllabus, children are able to demonstrate a positive attitude and mutual respect for different beliefs within the local community and wider society. By the end of Key Stage 1, children will have been introduced to Christianity and Islam and will have started to identify similarities and differences between the two key religions.

Children will then be given the opportunity to build on their previous knowledge and understanding as they progress through school, whilst being introduced to new religions, allowing for children to develop a sound understanding of 5 key religions by the end of Key Stage 2. Children can make links between their own beliefs and those of others within school and their community, enabling them to become educated individuals who are tolerant of our ever – changing, diverse society.
