DT at Intack Primary School – Statement of Intent
At Intack Primary School we are committed to providing all children with learning opportunities to engage in design technology. We aim to provide a learning environment where children feel secure and creative risk-taking and problem solving is encouraged and the children’s design ideas and suggestions are valued.
At Intack in DT lessons all children will develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. Through our DT teaching pupils will build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users.
Pupils at Intack will also be encouraged to critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others. All children will be taught the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook hot and cold healthy food.
